Jagannath Swami, The holy temple of our god is located in Puri, Orissa. Located near the sea shore is a beautiful temple that attracts devotees globally. Here, the god resides with little sister Subhadra Ji and elder brother Balram Ji.

The Rathyatra of Jagannath Ji

Every year their is a rathyatra that goes every year during the month of july. In this yatra, the god visits his aunt Gundicha Temple, Puri 🛕.

This culture is practiced for many years and is loved festival by devotees globally. The festival is not only limited to India but globally. Devotees of the Lord take on mini yatras as per their devotion and love for the god.

How The Tradition Is Practiced.

Firstly, the raths of prabhu made completely through handcrafting. The raths made of woods like Phasi, Dhaura, Asana, Simal, Bhaurna, Sal. In total, 3 raths constructed belonging one to each Jagannath Ji, Subhadra Ji, Balram Ji.

Then, using these chariots, the god travels from his temple to Gundicha Devi’s Temple. God then stays for seven days at aunt’s house. Post this, he returns to his home.

The Sweet Love Story of Rasgulla’s

When Jagannath returns back, he brings rasgulla’s along him. The story behind is Goddess Laxmi, the wife of jagannath Ji, who is very angry with him for going alone and leaving her behind. To make her happy, the lord offers her rasagulla’s that make her happy.

This is a swwet gesture of love and very cute movement. After the procedure, the god takes his place back in the temple, and the festival ends. This a pleasure and most awaited time for devotees.
